Moody Blues

I mentioned in this post that I was keen to add a gallery wall to our teeny tiny half bath.  I wanted to break up the navy and also add something fun to look at.

I collected lots of different pieces to hang, but they were all really random sizes - not a standard 8x10 among them.  I have also amassed a pretty good collection of white frames in my "quick, buy it while its cheap" phase.  None of the prints fit exactly with the frames or mats I already had, so I decided to do away with the glass altogether and just attach the pics directly to the wall.

I picked up some washi tape from Michaels and got to sticking.

I've also added a few nick nacks to our little wall cabinet.

This was a card from Melanie Kimmett's Etsy shop

The Hatch Show print was a freebie from a music festival in Nashville.

I do eventually plan on adding custom mats to each of the prints, but the cost can quickly add up, so in the name of all things cheap and cheerful we'll be sticking (pun intended) with the tape for now.

Red, white and blue

It's Friday and I couldn't be more ready for the weekend.  I'm looking forward to Easter and pottering round the house and flipping through my Orla Kiely Pattern book that just arrived (thank you very much credit card reward points).  It's going to take all my willpower not to rip out some of the pages to frame.

The half bath progress continues at a snails pace.  A snail that has stopped to catch his breath.  Then grabbed something to eat.  And finally decided to take a nap.  Aaaah, it's never going to be finished!!  Ok, I feel better after that.  Now for the progress.

We finally mounted the Target cabinet.  I love the crisp white against the navy.

It looks a little small on the wall, but I have a few ideas to bulk it up a bit.

I've also been squirreling away some accessories since I decided on the navy walls.  I'm not sure all of these will be making it into the room, but i suppose it's good to have too much rather than not enough.  It'll certainly put my editing skills to the test.

You can't beat a patriotic red, white and blue colour scheme.  Not an Easter pastel in sight, ha!

Half Bath Sneak Peek

The half bath has been a sorry sight, pretty much since we moved in. Initially we used the ugly vanity to wash the paint brushes and rollers, until we couldn't stand to look at it any more, and we took the whole thing out completely.  The drawers were all jacked up and the top was in a shoddy condition.  Its fate was sealed and out it went.

The wall colour was a kind of dusty apricot.

This room is small (just a loo and a sink), so no amount of light coloured paint or ambient lighting was going to make it look any bigger.  We decided to go dark. Really dark.

We still have a way to go with installing the new vanity, hanging shelving or some sort of storage above the loo, creating an art wall, replacing all of the hardware.  And the list goes on.  Luckily I have found lots of good inspiration:
